Our School Council
12 children from across our school make up our School Council. An important way in which the children learn about democracy and the rule of law, two out of four of the fundamental British values, is by electing children from their class to represent them.
At the start of the school year, the children are encouraged to think about the qualities of an effective school counselor. This year, each class received a letter from Mr. Griffiths to ask them to work together to hold an election, cast their votes and choose two children to be part of Eastrop’s School Council.
Our School Council meets regularly to help our school be the best it can be. Most recently, the School Council helped Mr. Griffiths, Mr. McMahon and Mrs. Parker (two governors) with the new school website and logo design. In November, our School Council met to give their feedback about school dinners. The children talked honestly and freely about the service and their play time as well as the quality and quantity of food they eat.
In the spring term, the school council will be helping Mr. Smith to set up an eco-committee to help Eastrop gain the Eco Schools quality mark.
